STAFF at a blaze hit hairdressers were 'devastated' after it gutted their shop, leaving it shut.

A fire wrecked Haringtons Hairdressers in Marlow High Street on January 4 and it is not expected to reopen until April at least.

The 27 year-old company said it is almost business as usual though, as Marlow staff carry on cutting hair at its Beaconsfield shop.

The salon is part fire and totally smoke damaged and will have to be completely refitted.

No insurance company has yet accepted responsibility.

The cost of damage is still unknown, though an assessment is taking place, with results expected within a month.

David Lambert, Director of Haringtons, said: “It is devastating news for our staff and clients but we are very grateful that no one was injured in the fire.

“We cannot start work on stripping out and refitting the salon until the damage to the main fabric of the building where the fire started in the communal office area (the landlord’s responsibility) is repaired.”

It is believed an electrical problem started the fire.

Mr Lambert added: “Our thanks go to the fire services for the fantastic job they did in containing the fire and saving the building and to some local traders who have been incredibly supportive in such a difficult time.”

He also thanked clients for their understanding.

Marlow clients have been offered a discount off their bill to have a hair cut at one of the other shops nearby in Beaconsfield, Maidenhead or Henley.

Staff from Marlow are currently working at the Beaconsfield salon.
