FRESH plans are being drafted for a new ‘retail courtyard’ in Beaconsfield Old Town, which would include a Raymond Blanc restaurant.

A previous scheme to create a shopping mews in London End was rejected by a council, but developers have gone back to the drawing board to address concerns over transport.

The new scheme would include three shops instead of four, but an extra access point has been added.

Consultants for the Hall Barn Estate, which owns a significant part the Old Town, say the Raymond Blanc Brasserie will still be the centrepiece of the development.

The restaurant would front on to London End, after the restoration of a former bakery and sandwich shop, with an outdoor seating area at the rear.

There would still be a car park behind the retail units to the north-east, though vehicles would enter through the archway next to the former bakery, and exit through the Knights of Beaconsfield archway.

The previous plan included one access point for all vehicles.

The plans are being drawn up by Bidwells, a property consultancy firm.

Partner Daniel Jones said he hopes the Estate will obtain planning permission in the Spring, with support from South Bucks District Council and Buckinghamshire County Council.

If permission is granted, he said the project would be due for completion by the Summer of 2013.
