A SECTION of London Road in Wycombe Marsh has been reopened after police spent the morning investigating the scene where a man was found with a gunshot wound.

The stretch of the A40 from Kings Road to Abbey Barn Road was still closed this morning after the incident last evening but it has now been reopened.

Yesterday evening at about 6pm a 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound in his lower leg outside the Disraeli Arms pub. (See link below).

He was taken to hospital but police said his condition is not life threatening.

Traffic was being diverted down Kings Road, along Beech Road and up Abbey Barn Road back onto the A40 as police were still on the scene. Forensics were there this morning.

Graham Saunders, who lives in Fennels Road, said: “It is a shock really. It is not the sort of thing you want on your doorstep.

“Last night everyone was quite shocked. I drove out at the end of the road and straight in the police cordon. I got quickly ushered out.”

A resident from Kings Road, who did not wish to be named, said: “It is usually quite a quiet area. I don’t know much about it, except it happened yesterday evening.

“I went out about 6.45pm and the road was blocked off.”

Eight people have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder in connection with the incident and have been taken into custody for questioning.

Police, including armed officers, were called to the scene by South Central Ambulance Service. Police said it is not yet clear if the shooting took place at this location.

Ali, of Ford Street, who did not want to give his surname, said: “I have lived here almost seven years. Many people who live here are quite old. They don’t like the aggravation.”

Deputy area commander ch insp Colin Seaton said they are treating the incident as a targeted attack.
