UNLIKE Mr Leach (Letters, December 16), I saw the very best of our health service.

Whilst travelling back from Yorkshire, I too had bladder retention. I decided to keep driving and try to make Stoke Mandeville. I staggered in and within minutes a doctor was with me and inserted a catheter.

What glorious relief. I was then taken by ambulance to the Urology Department at High Wycombe where I was admitted.

The attention I received was first class, I spent ten days having treatment and no praise would be too high for the attention and care taken over me.

During my time in the ward, I was able to observe the care received by two very elderly fellow patients, This was exemplary – such good care and attention. We in the Buckinghamshire area are really blessed by such a very good hospital.
