A COUNCIL road maintenance scheme is set to resume in March after a winter break.
The £25 million, two-year road repair scheme branded ‘We’re Working On It', has so far resurfaced 200 roads since May- the equivalent of 118 football pitches.
Buckinghamshire County Council’s cabinet member for transport, Peter Hardy, said: “We are now in receipt of nearly 100 compliments for the We’re Working On It programme, which demonstrates how the improvements made to the road network are being appreciated by both residents and road users across the county.”
Despite work having finished for 2011, Transport for Buckinghamshire’s engineers are reportedly already hard at work to ensure that the County's roads are kept safe during the colder months, as well as preparing for the continuation of repairs in March 2012.
Earlier this year Mr. Hardy announced the Council’s considerable expenditure on road repairs, he said: “This will help us make a start on addressing a very large backlog of repair work, but even this amount of investment is just one-tenth of what it will cost to bring the county's roads up to spec.”
The programme of roads that will be repaired in March 2012 are due to be announced in January.
