A NEW service aiming to help university leavers from south Bucks land their first job is being launched - and wants feedback from the very people it is trying to help to create as valuable a service as possible.

The Graduate Network plans to tap into the range of expertise and experience of professional and business people living in and around Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross and Amersham to provide practical help, advice and support to any graduates who are currently looking for work.

Services that may be on offer include perfecting CVs, interview techniques, online and face-to-face networking skills, mentoring and much more.

The Graduate Network, which has sprung from the Big Society in Beaconsfield initiative, will start with a Pilot Evening on November 22 in Beaconsfield. The aim of the evening will be to get feedback from young graduates on a range of possible services that the Graduate Network could provide.

Bill Penn, a member of the Graduate Network Steering Group, said: “We have a long list of services we could provide. But we want to hear from graduates themselves which of these would be most valuable to them. This will help shape the programme when it starts next year. These are very difficult times for young people who have left university recently and I hope that we can give some local support on a regular basis to help them.”

Anyone interested in joining the Graduate Network Pilot evening should email hello@thegradnet.com to register and get further details about the venue, timing and format or log on to www.thegradnet.com
