A BARN containing about 100 tonnes of straw went up in flames last night in a suspected arson attack.
Three crews of firefighters were called at 9.18pm to tackle the blaze, which was in a field off Broad Lane, just south of Holtspur Cemetery on the edge of Beaconsfield.
The crews used two jets and a water shuttle, and were able to bring the flames under control by about 10pm.
Watch manager Denis Melia, from Gerrards Cross Fire Station, said crews had been at the scene throughout the night to stop the fire spreading to crops and a nearby ancient hedgerow.
His crew was still there at 11.30am today damping down.
