IAN Rose will find out if he's got a chance of making the 2012 Paralympic Games today.
The 39-year-old judo star snapped his anterior cruciate ligament three weeks ago and is meeting the Great Britain team officials today before making a decision.
A snapped ACL usually means about nine months out, which would be cutting it fine.
He said: "It's the worst injury I've had. I've never done it before.
"The ACL is like a big elastic band and I heard it snapping. I didn't know what it was at first and did the typical sportsman thing, thinking it would just go away.
"I thought I'd just pulled a few muscles in my knee so I kept going down the gym - obviously not doing judo though - waiting for it to get better.
"But it didn't get better, it got worse."
Rose had been making fine progress, winning silver at the US Open last month and he was due to compete in the European Championships in a few weeks time.
Instead, he will be recovering from an operation on his knee a week tomorrow.
