A YOUTH club in Beaconsfield which was under threat of permanent closure is set to be re-opened next week by a team of volunteers.
Activities at the Curzon Centre Youth Club have been suspended since the end of August, when Buckinghamshire County Council cut its funding as part of a county-wide plan to slash its youth services budget.
Though the club will run fewer sessions, the management committee are delighted to have secured enough funding to run activities on Wednesday evenings.
Sessions for youngsters aged eight – 12 will run from 5 – 7pm, with those aged 13 – 19 catered for between 7 – 9pm.
Meanwhile, volunteers have also managed to put on a weekly session at the Eastside Youth Centre in High Wycombe.
Eastside was in a list of 'suspended' clubs released by the council, as reported last week, but a Monday evening session was launched at the end of September.
It takes place at Highcrest Academy in Totteridge, from 6.30 – 9pm.
