A TEAM of 30 of Buckinghamshire's top detectives and forensic scientists has been working around the clock to discover the identity of a body found burning in woodland near Wooburn Common.

The flaming corpse of a woman in her late teens to early 30s was discovered by a dog walker in Sheepcote Woods at around lunchtime on Saturday.

The man ran out of the woods and flagged down a passing motorist in Hedsor Lane, who then used a mobile phone to report the shocking find to police.

A post mortem on Sunday revealed the young woman died from massive head injuries before her body was dumped in the woods.

Detective Superintendent Andy Taylor, leading the investigation, said solving the mystery of the woman's identity was key to solving her murder.

He is hopeful someone will recognise the woman from a distinctive snake-shaped ring she was wearing or a rearing pegasus tattoo on her upper right arm.
