DORIS NASH and her team wish to thank everyone who was involved in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning. Over 100 people came to the schoolroom at Cryers Hill Methodist Church and more than £750 was raised for the Macmillan Cancer Relief. Thank you all very much.

CRYERS HILL Methodist Church warmly invite you to share in their Sunday services at 10.30am with preacher Michael Brittin and 6pm with Rev Moira Peters. On Tuesday the singing group meet at 7.30pm and are preparing for a visit to Naphill Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 19 at 2.30pm. All are welcome.

RACE NIGHT for GKCC will be held on Saturday, October 22 stating at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. Tickerts are £5 and include a fish and chip supper. They are available at the Spar shop and Cryers Hill post office, alternatively call Bill Humprheys on 01494 713742. Children are welcome.

ALPINE GARDEN SOCIETY are holding a meeting on Friday, October 14 in the Village Hall, commencing at 7.30pm. Christine Walkden, who is a freelance horticulteral consultant, author and broadcaster, will be the speaker and she will be talking about Plant Collectors and their Plants. Please come along.

VILLAGE QUIZ night tickets are now on sale in the Spar shop. It is being held on Saturday, October 15 at 7.30pm in the village hall. Teams of four to six are needed and the prize will be the village quiz cup. Tickets cost £5 and include a ploughman's supper. Please bring your own drink. The quiz is suitable for teenagers upwards. BUDDING THEATRICAL PERSONS in the village should go along when Prestwood Theatre Group hold an evening of "Theatrical Quizzery and Merriment" to entice some of you to work behind the scenes at future shows.

This is an informal get together tomorrow with a quiz, drinks and food in the village hall from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. Tickets are £2 per person and include a light buffet. Take your own drinks.

THANK YOU to everyone who supported the Macmillan Coffee Morning in the village hall. There was a real buzz and great community atmosphere making the raising of £220 almost secondary. All the organisers were delighted with the result and would like to especially thank Mr Brill, Mike Blowing, Trevor Bateman and Peter Charles for donations of prizes and refreshments and Wendy Charles and Eileen Brooks for help on the day. The money raised will go towards a local appeal for Macmillan staff for the High Wycombe and Stoke Mandeville hospitals.

"STORM IN A TEACUP" by Josh Elwell will be performed in the village hall tomorrow at 3pm. The show is aimed at children above five years and is based on "The Tempest". It uses magic, music and puppets. Tickets are available from Liz Lewis on 01494 712930 or from Cryers Hill Post Office. Children and concessions £5, adults pay £7.
