ANNUAL FIVE A SIDE community competition was again won by the Pond Park Juniors. They practice regularly at the Belmont Club field and at Marston field. Now they are looking forward to retaining the cup next year.
EVERYONE, children and their parents, had a lovely time at the Chesham fire brigade Fun Day last Saturday. There was so much to do with stalls, bouncy castle and lots of activities. They borrowed the car park next door because there were so many visitors.
GO BACK to the days of Swing and Blues with Chesham Bois Catholic Players tonight and tomorrow in the Little Theatre by the park. Guests can dress up to suit the big band era. Tickets are £12 and a cocktail platter will be served during the interval. Guests should bring their own drinks and glasses. To check on ticket availability ring 01494 758004.
CHESS VALLEY Male Voice Choir was founded in 1993 and has around 40 singing members. David Cooke became their musical director in 2002. His ambition is to continue the gradual expansion of the choir's repertoire with some emphasis on the wealth of music was originally composed for male voice choirs.
Future concerts include one on Saturday, October 15 at 7.30pm in the Elgiva Theatre. Then on Saturday, November 26 you can hear them at 7.30pm in St Mary's Church. Closer to Christmas you can hear them on Saturday, December 17 at 7.30pm in Amersham Free Church.
JOHN DONNELLY is one of the older generation. He lives in Great Hivings and is the father of eight children. John likes the buildings along Church Street in Old Chesham and he loves Lowndes Park. The rubbish in the High Street annoys him as does the drinking culture which exists there on Saturday evenings. John believes that Church Street should be one way and there should be one hour of free parking in the town.
DOUBLE YELLOW LINES newly painted in Broadway don't seem to have made much difference. Cars parking on or near the bus stops cause buses to stop in the middle of the road. This is very difficult for pensioners and mums with pushchairs. They have to do out into the road to get up onto the bus, knowing that there is a queue of traffic behind. We are constantly urged to use public transport. How can we when there are such hazards? Where are the traffic wardens?
ALL GIRLS BAND hasrehearsals for beginners on Tuesdays at the Scout headquarters in Station Road, by the station, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
