TACKLING a complex comedic study of the acting profession, like Noises Off, may seem ambitious for an amateur dramatics company, but the Newpenny Theatre Company have come a long way in a short time.
Formed in 2003, Newpenny have already put together four productions which they performed at the Wycombe Swan and the Elgiva in Chesham.
Every person involved is a part-time enthusiast, but the aim is to provide high quality productions all over Bucks.
They are currently attempting to get charity status, but have so far been completely self-sufficient.
They have as their patron local celebrity Fern Britton, and are well supported by the Swan and the Elgiva.
Publicity manager Lynne Irving says: "Anyone can end up playing the lead role.
We have meetings every month to discuss upcoming productions, and we rotate the chairmanship of the meetings. It is a really inclusive company, and we always welcome new members."
The comedy Noises Off is the story of a play being performed, and of what goes on backstage. "It is very chaotic, and rehearsals are intense," says Irving.
Newpenny Theatre Company's performance of Noises Off at the Elgiva, Chesham from October 4 - 8. Tickets: 01494 582900
