POLICE are trying to stop drug dealers from London infiltrating the low-crime town of Beaconsfield.
Sgt John Chatterton-Ross, the new sector sergeant for the town, revealed that, even though Beaconsfield has a relatively low crime rate, criminals from London could pose a threat.
Speaking as a guest at the town council meeting on Thursday, September 22, he said: "Occasionally, drug dealers seep out of London.
"I do not want these kind of individuals to get hold of the town of Beaconsfield, because if they do they bring a lot of problems with them."
He added: "When they arrive on your doorstep you've got a problem because the violence associated with drug dealing is getting worse and worse."
His comments were made just a week after three addresses in Beaconsfield were raided by police officers.
Police raided homes in Shepherds Close, Yew Tree Close and Chesterton Green, seizing a large quantity of substances from two of the buildings.
A substance believed to be cocaine, drugs paraphernalia, an undisclosed amount of money and several mobile phones, were seized from the address in Shepherds Close and cannabis was seized from the Yew Tree Close address.
Sgt Chatterton-Ross said: "My officers carried out three drug raids in Beaconsfield. They were successful. I am pleased."
He was unable to comment on whether or not these drugs were linked to London, but when asked whether the town had any of its own "home grown" drug dealers, he admitted that it does.
Sgt Chatterton-Ross said: "Once it becomes highlighted, bigger-league people from outside move in.
"There's a hierarchy to this kind of crime. Some people make all of their money by intimidating other people lower down the "food chain"."
Anyone with any information about drug dealing is urged to contact Thames Valley Police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
