Richard Harold and his partner Margaret have been landlords of the Crown Inn, Penn for only a month, but they have had pubs in Maidenhead and Farnham Common.
How long have you been a landlord?
For the past nine years. Before that I worked in retail in Johannesburg in South Africa. Then I returned home to Maidenhead where I used to run, what was, the Jumbo Market, but is now the Food Hall.
What kind of food do you serve?
We are just coming into the shooting season, so we have a lot of game specials at the moment, but we have a really broad range, including fantastic fresh fish, salt and freshwater, like turbot, halibut and swordfish. We keep the menu seasonal.
What kind of wine do you serve?
We have one of the best selections on the market. A great range from the whole of the wine making world, ranging from £8 to £20+.
What kind of a pub is The Crown Inn?
It's a non-threatening place. The food is very good, but there is a place for everyone here, whether they are having a party, or want a relaxing drink. We get young people coming for a drink, or those who want to enjoy the food, or people on their own.
