GROOM John Young made sure his bride got to the church on time by getting colleagues to drive her to the ceremony in a fire engine.
Former BFP journalist Kelly Clayton, 26, arrived at St Peter's Church, Loudwater, in style on August 13 for her marriage to the 30-year-old Maidenhead firefighter.
The couple, who met on holiday in Gran Canaria eight years ago, welcomed friends and family to the service, and were helped by best man Marc Jones, Kelly's niece Shannon Clayton, and John's nieces Kestra and Kara Dawson, who were bridesmaids.
Kelly, from High Wycombe, the daughter of Richard and Doreen Clayton, wore an ivory beaded bodice and skirt, with chiffon waterfall detail, and carried a bouquet of cream roses and freesias.
John, originally from Wales, the son of John and Rose Young from Blackwood, Gwent, wore full fire service dress uniform, as did his ushers, firefighters Tim Readings and Matt Weldon, also based at Maidenhead fire station.
The wedding party celebrated with a reception at Moor Hall in Cookham which included a close-up magician organised by Kelly's parents as a surprise.
John and Kelly expressed their thanks to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue and to Firefighter Bob Sandercock and Leading Firefighter Steve Beard for driving the wedding fire engine and making the day extra special.
The couple jetted off to Cyprus for their two-week honeymoon the next day before returning to their home in High Wycombe.
