AN evening of Captain Scarlett films at Pinewood Studios is just one of the events being organised by the Mayor of Beaconsfield for his chosen charity next year.

Cllr Archie Legg, of Windsor End, is busy lining-up events, including a Mayor's Banquet and a clay pigeon shoot, after announcing that the Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance is his latest chosen charity.

He said: "I chose the Air Ambulance because its a charity that any of us might require at any time."

The events will start at the beginning of next year and include an evening at Pinewood Studios that will be hosted by the president of the charity, Gerry Anderson the creator of the Captain Scarlett and Thunderbirds puppets.

Stevie Horton, a spokesman for the charity, said: "We are delighted that the mayor of Beaconsfield has chosen us as his charity this year. We regularly travel throughout the Thames Valley, including Beaconsfield from where we have often air lifted people. I understand that Mr Legg is going to be raising money by holding lots of events, including an evening at Pinewood where our president will be airing his Captain Scarlett films and auctioning his merchandise."

She added: "If it was not for events like these we would not be able to keep flying."

Chiltern and Thames Valley Air Ambulance runs seven days a week, from 8am until 6pm, and costs £950,000 a year to run.
