TORRENTIAL rain did not stop the crowds from turning out to join in the annual Thame and Oxfordshire Show.
Members of the public, equipped with wellies and macs, enjoyed a variety of attractions throughout the day, organised especially for the event and marking its 138th annual show on Thursday, September 15.
The Knights of Arkley were among the most popular attraction of the day, amazing the audience with their sword skills in a thrilling display of medieval jousting.
The terrier dog racing was also a particular favourite, with the public being encouraged to test their skill against Cyril the squirrel.
Regular features returned this year, including horse jumping, agricultural and vintage farm machinery, while the Band of the Prince of Wales Division helped to keep the crowds in high spirits during the downpours.
Thame Mayor, Cllr David Laver, a regular visitor at the show, said after the foot and mouth outbreak in 2001 that it was encouraging to see the level of animal entries back to normal.
He commented: "This year was as good as ever."
Cllr Laver also said there is speculation that the show could become a two-day event next year, although it has yet to be decided.
