A FASHION buyer from a small fishing village in Norway is angling to be a top image consultant.
With a fashion degree and BA Hons in fashion design, Heidi Pedersen-Leighton has worked with a string of high class designers.
The mother-of-two has recently added a diploma from Marlow's Absolute Image training consultancy and now knows the perfect colours that blend with skin tones. This should be all the bait she needs to hook plenty of customers for the business she runs from home in Flackwell Heath.
She has always known fashion was her scene. As a child she adored dressing her dolls in pretty clothes and choosing the correct clothes and make-up for herself too.
Mrs Pedersen-Leighton, 32, of Chapmans Lane, Flackwell Heath, said: "I have got a natural eye for beauty and see dressing as a form of art. I love working with people and bringing out the natural beauty in them."
She has worked for companies including the River Island chain selecting fashion garments, and ladies tailoring as well as shoes for stores throughout the country. Heidi has worked with famous designers such as Nichol Fahri, Bella Freud and Isabella Kristensen.
Since the birth of 18-month-old Ingrid, and six-month-old James, Heidi has longed for a job that would use her skills to the full. Being an image consultant is the perfect answer.
She has set up a consulting room in her home and has the back up of her teaching mentors in Marlow. She advises on the right colours to wear, make up, clothes and accessories to suit height and body shape.
"I want to bring the person and clothing together so that they speak the same language," said Heidi.
Her fashion skills help people select the perfect wardrobe. Naturally she enjoys it when clients want expensive garments but says she can make people feel like a million dollars in second-hand clothes from charity shops.
"It's not just the clothes it is how people wear them that is important and accessories can make humble garments look fantastic," she said. "I am building this business up and my dream is to see it grow and give people a taste of what I feel so passionate about."
