THE sprawling Carington Estate is undergoing its largest-ever conversion project in the shape of a courtyard of offices, created from listed farm buildings, alongside some new build units.

One of the offices at the new Abbey Barn Business Centre in Abbey Barn Road, High Wycombe, is already under offer Estate manager Neil Taylor says interest in the scheme has been encouraging.

"We felt the location and communications suited a prestigious business centre," he said.

"The character and quality of the finished product will be ideal for offices."

The two units in the original buildings are 1,800sq ft and 2,300 sq ft. The remaining newly-built office is 829sq ft. Rents range from £16,500 a year for the new build to £45,000 a year for the largest conversion.

Clive Brocklehurst at Aitchison Raffety who is marketing the scheme with joint agent Lambert Smith Hampton, is delighted with the quality of the project.

He said: "The principal barn has a stunning solid oak first floor structured around a glazed atrium.

"It has been handcrafted to ensure it does not affect the listed building. The largest unit has wonderful arched windows and really interesting space. All of the offices have exposed beams."

The units are due to be finished in December.

All have modern lighting and trunking systems, double glazed windows and comply with disabled access regulations.

l The 17th century Georgian building with the name you remember Rhino House at the junction of Cressex Road and Marlow Road close to Handy Cross has been sold to healthcare company WestawayGillis.

The former farmhouse at Cressex Farm on the Carington Estate was bought by a local developer three years ago and refurbished regardless of expense.

Since then, it has been the swish Buckinghamshire headquarters of the Spearmint Rhino Gentleman's Clubs.

The directors have now decided to move their Wycombe office to their London club in Tottenham Court Road which is why the building has been on the market with a £950,000 guide price through Stupples & Co.

The new owners previously operated from a suite at The Clock House in Frogmoor.
