MEMBERS of Wycombe District Council's Development Control Committee have asked for housing developers to include children's play areas for the former Bucks Free Press site following a site visit.
The former newspaper site in Gomm Road, High Wycombe, was visited by several members of the committee in order to approve reserved matters such as external appearance, design and landscaping, before construction work can begin.
Cllr Margaret Draper, one of the members who did the site visit, told the meeting of Wednesday September 14: "This seems to be an excellent scheme but I would like to suggest that the developers include play areas with equipment for one to five-year-olds such as small swings and slides.
"This will give children who will be living on the development somewhere to play safely."
The eight-acre site will be used by developers Michael Shanly to build homes. Wycombe District Council has already given outline permission for 134 flats and houses to replace the old Bucks Free Press offices.
All the members of the committee voted unanimously to approve the reserved matters to include children's play areas.
