I THANK Marlow Chamber of Commerce and various other supporting groups, in bringing some commonsense into the thinking and therefore forcing the 'U' turn that our district council (WDC) made regarding their Marlow Town Centre Development Schemes (Monster Supermarket Plan) recent meeting.
I was not too pleased with the praise that WDC officers received about their large but very contradictory public report, as it did not address the much requested and very serious issues that would have been detrimental to our town's future by being totally ignored. This issue has from day one been promoted, presented and nearly sold to us against our wishes by WDC.
The original M4 development area was slipped in by them without fuss whilst everyone was concerned about the planned supermarket on Portland's site.
I ask, who are these people that are supposed to be working on our behalf and their wages we are struggling to pay? It seems to me that they have a much greater preference in forgetting us and listening to those large multi-national organisations in cloning our town. Marlow and its people need a full explanation as to why the WDC withheld vital information from its report, and also an indication as to how much this fiasco has cost us (the public) to date.
Beware everyone they are all still there and be ready for it all to happen again. I am not on the electoral roll but a £1,800 per month rate payer.
Richard Hunt, Marlow
