VILLAGERS will be saddened to hear that John Trigg, vicar at Stokenchurch and Ibstone for 23 years, passed away suddenly at his home in Wiltshire where he and his wife Bunty made their home after their retirement ten years ago. As well as his very busy ministry John was also involved in setting up the Stokenchurch Charity Trust Fund, and also the purchasing of our first Community Bus and the building of the St Francis Room.
ST FRANCIS ROOM is the venue for the Church Teas group's meeting, tomorrow from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. All are welcome to taste the delicious home-made scones and cakes and enjoy the company.
ANOTHER TRIP by the Community Bus will take place on Friday, August 19 to Princes Risborough and World's End. If you're eligible to use the bus and would like to be included on the 19th phone 01494 485839 and leave a message - you will get a response.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT is always a sore subject in this village and I will share with you suggestions I get from other local people for ideas to make the most of it.
For example, I understand that by catching the Reading bus at 9am from the King's Arms on a Thursday and getting off at Watlington it is possible to almost immediately get on a Red Rose bus to Henley (market day on Thursdays).
The bus returns from there at 3.40pm and if requested the driver will bring passengers back to Stokenchurch.
