FINAL preparations are underway for this year's Bucks Free Press Wycombe Town Show The annual extravaganza, held on The Rye, gets underway on Saturday with thousands of people expected to visit over the weekend.
Clive Brevington, show organiser, urged Wycombe residents to turn out and back the show.
He said: "We are looking forward to a great weekend and hopefully people will support the show. We want to get it back to its best."
A whole host of activities have been planned for the two-day event, sponsored by Platts Hyundai.
Jon Jones, principal dealer, said Hyundai would be displaying a selection of cars, and handing out plenty of freebies to show visitors.
He added: "This is the first time Platts Hyundai has sponsored the show and we hope it is a great family day."
New for this year is a breath-taking display by the emergency services, who will be demonstrating their skills in a mock accident.
Firefighters are also set to put on regular chip-pan fire demonstrations.
Mr Brevington also boasted the fun fair would be the best ever seen in the town. He said: "Some of the rides are the biggest to ever come to The Rye. We also have a tower drop for the first time and a bungee catapult."
Youngsters are also needed to take part in an exciting five-a-side tournament organised by Wycombe Wanderers. The games will be played out on a giant inflatable football pitch on The Rye during the town show weekend. Three tournaments for seven, eight and nine-year-olds are taking place on Saturday, and three more for ten, 11 and 12-year-olds will be played on Sunday.
Alan Dunham, from Wycombe Wanderers, said: "The pitch has walls like on a bouncy castle and the goals are built-in. We want to run a tournament and we need teams to come and take part."
Anyone taking part in the tournament will get into the town show for free if accompanied by an adult.
Tickets cost £4 for adults and £3 for children and over 60s. A family ticket for two adults and two children is also available for £10. To enter a team in the football tournament call Wycombe Wanderers on 01494 472100.
