AS the school holidays get into full swing and the summer sun shines down, children love nothing more than splashing around in the pool.
Three Valleys Water wants to highlight the importance of safety when enjoying the cool water in hot weather.
It is advising all customers to be water-wise when using pools in the garden and wants to ensure water quality remains high.
The company is also asking customers to think before using any unnecessary water because of the dry conditions and possible drought. Once you've filled your paddling pool, try to keep it topped up.
Peter Darby, managing director, said: "Please consider your neighbours before you start using large amounts of water. Some garden pools can hold 12,000 litres of water that's enough to fill your bath more than 150 times. At the height of the summer, using large volumes of water can reduce the supply of water to your neighbours, leading to lower water pressure."
Advice for a safe summer with water:
Follow manufacturer's instructions on how to keep garden pools clean. It is essential to ensure the quality of the water is kept as high as it is when it reaches your taps.
Be careful when disposing of water. If you have used chemicals to keep it clean, don't pour it onto the ground or use it to water your plants because it will damage them.
Never leave children unsupervised.
