A POST office worker from Naphill was beaten to the floor during a robbery last Wednesday but thieves only made off with a set of stamps.
Two men approached the 44-year-old post office delivery worker from behind at the office in Main Road at around 3pm on Wednesday, July 27.
They hit the man, knocking him to the floor, and then searched him before stealing a post office box containing around £6 worth of commemorative postal stamps.
The robbers then drove away from the post office in a Yellow VW Beetle car towards Walters Ash.
The car was later found abandoned in Windmill Lane, Widmer End, at the junction with Brimmers End.
Witnesses reported seeing two men running along Windmill Lane carrying a case and jumping into a silver old style Ford Mondeo car, and driving off towards Hazlemere crossroads.
Investigating Officer, Acting Detective Sergeant Steve Fox, said: "This was a particularly violent assault where the aggrieved was punched several times in the face by the offenders. He has been left very shaken by the ferocity of the attack, and was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, but thankfully was not seriously injured receiving cuts and bruises in the assault."
The men who assaulted the post office worker were both in their 20s, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins, and possibly wearing dark balaclavas.
Police are now looking for the Mondeo used by the robbers.
Det Sgt Fox said: "I am keen to trace these offenders, who are likely to have had further assistance from accomplices waiting with the second car. We have recovered one vehicle involved, but are still looking for information as to the location and direction of the second car, an M-reg Ford Mondeo."
He added: "Anyone who may have seen either vehicles in and around the areas mentioned in the days or hours prior to the incident, or may have seen the Mondeo since is asked to call and let us know as their information may prove important to this investigation."
Anyone who saw anything suspicious is asked to contact Acting Det Sgt Fox at High Wycombe CID on 0845 8505 505 or alternatively Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
