DEMOLITION work for the new Wycombe shopping complex is underway, with Iceland in Desborough Road the first store to be levelled.
The £180million town centre redevelopment project, named Eden, will provide shoppers with many new outlets. The development's main anchor, a 141,500 square foot House of Fraser, will be built where Iceland used to stand.
Cllr Lesley Clarke, leader of Wycombe district council, oversaw the start of work.
She said: "Eden is due to open in Spring 2008. I am delighted to help this project progress it is the catalyst for a major upgrade to the facilities High Wycombe has to offer. These are exciting times."
The project will see new facilities installed such as a new bus interchange, a 12-screen cinema complex and an 18-lane bowling alley.
