IT may not include the Magic Faraway Tree, but the gardens at Enid Blyton's old house in Well End, Bourne End, are still something to marvel at.
Owned by garden designer Jacky Hawthorne and her husband David, Old Thatch in Coldmoorholme Lane is where Enid Blyton lived for ten years before moving to Beaconsfield for the remainder of her life.
That house is now a housing estate, and so the Hawthorne's home which includes stables, gardens and kitchen tea room is all that remains.
"There are two acres of beautiful gardens and a really wonderful atmosphere," said Mrs Hawthorne. "It's a chance for people to see where Enid Blyton lived and experience the lovely gardens.."
The home is open every Friday and Saturday from 11am to 5pm for another three weeks. Entry is £2.50 for adults and £1 for children. The money raised goes towards the garden's upkeep.
