Is it a fair cop?
I AM surprised at the number of letters in the BFP from people who plead innocence after being caught speeding by this camera on Marlow Hill, High Wycombe?
Regular readers of the letters pages have been warned of this camera for weeks, if not months?
Regular readers of the BFP can say we were forewarned, and therefore forearmed, to this particular camera?
Also these cameras are now painted orange, and white lines painted on road to warn motorists to slow down, how alert were these motorists to miss these tell-tale signs?
All these motorists, after being caught, have wanted to tell the public how careful they are and how they have always respected the law, and how their respect will wane, unless the authorities bow down to their demands, to questions they ask. How childish.
A police presence wouldn't make any difference, 24 hours a day on these particular roads. Why don't the complainers act big and pay up?
It would seem to me, and others, that the authorities have got this speed camera in the right place, hence the complaints.
Yes sir, I've been had for speeding. Breaking the law speeding past The Dolphin public house, Totteridge. The police car was parked in Old Hardenwaye Road, on the left-hand side, and was sporting a 1970's style radar. I got fined £30 along with other colleagues at work, who had done the same as me.
We all paid up, without rancour, and said "fair cop guv".
Mr R G Pawley, Hazlemere
