IT IS with great sadness that the death of Philip Capps is announced. Philip was chairman of Chepping Wycombe Parish Council from 1991 until 1996 and was a stalwart member of the local community for many years.
His funeral is at St Michael's Church in Beaconsfield on Wednesday at 2pm.
THE 1ST XI cricket team entertained Wraysbury and had a resounding victory to move them into second place in the league.
A remarkable feat considering that they were bottom after five matches.
Batting first Simon Tattershall 54 not out, Matt Lance 49 and Paul Francis 44 helped them amass 299-8. Excellent bowling from R Arundel 4-61 helped dismiss Wraysbury for 166.
The 2nd XI also earned victory over high flying Wraysbury, which will ease the relegation fears. Wraysbury were bowled out for 162 and with 54 not out from J Morris and 50 not out from Steve Powell an easy five-wicket victory was achieved.
The future looks good for the club as on Monday three colts represented the club in The Chilterns League Chairmans' XI against Amersham Hill Cricket Club. Fifteen-year-old Joe Dulieu opened the bowling and hit 57, Simon Mason (15) kept wicket and scored 25 and his elder brother Chris (16) hit a magnificent 126 not out, in a high-scoring closely-fought match. They must be looking to be batting high up the order for the club very soon.
CHILTERNS Cricket League Knock Out Final is tonight at Winchmore Hill Cricket Club at 6pm. It is between Taplow and Wraysbury and all spectators are welcome.
