CARING customers at Morrisons supermarket in High Wycombe are leading the way in a national effort to raise money for Breast Cancer Campaign.
The supermarket giant has encouraged customers to hand in their old unwanted mobile phones to their local store.
These mobiles can then be recycled to raise thousands of pounds for the charity, chosen as Morrisons' charity of the year.
At the High Wycombe store, in Temple End, demand has been so high that 400 extra freepost envelopes have had to be ordered in for donated mobile phones.
Andrew Chard, store general manager, said: "We have been delighted with the response from our customers and I'd like to thank everyone who has donated an unwanted mobile phone."
He added: "Each of the phones that we receive raises valuable funds for Breast Cancer Campaign and we hope even more old phones are donated to help what is a very worthy cause."
For each mobile phone that is successfully recycled, a minimum of 50p will be donated to the charity.
More than 3,000 unwanted mobile phones were donated at Morrisons stores around the country in the first three days of the campaign.
Paul Fretwell, corporate partnerships executive at Breast Cancer Campaign, said: "This is a massive opportunity for people to make a big difference and raise much needed funds to help in the ongoing battle against breast cancer in the UK."
