HIGH Wycombe's PC Jon Taylor has been named Buckinghamshire Community Officer of the Year.
PC Taylor, 40, who is liaison officer for Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College (BCUC) and Wycombe Hospital, was nominated by residents, business people, university and hospital staff as well as representatives from Wycombe Youth Action and Millennium Volunteers.
PC Taylor, who is also Wycombe's town crier, joined Thames Valley Police 13 years ago and has served as a shift officer and a detective before joining the High Wycombe town centre team.
Gillian Stimpson, community safety manager for Wycombe District Council, was one person who nominated PC Taylor.
She said: "Jon is always approachable and works hard to achieve results on his beat. The residents and businesses on his patch are lucky to have such a dedicated officer."
Speaking of his award, PC Taylor (pictured right) said: "I was thrilled to bits and honoured when I found out. I am very grateful to those people who nominated me."
One project PC Taylor helped to complete recently was to turn an alleyway in West End Street into an art mural through graffiti.
He added: "It is good to see community policing initiatives securing recognition as I believe that only by police, partners and residents working together, can we move forward."
Iain Thomson, head of campus services at BCUC, said: "Long may Jon continue as he does to deliver the very highest possible standard of service to one and all in his community."
