THE Community Safety Showcase attracted the attention of hundreds of High Wycombe's Saturday shoppers with its display in Frogmoor.
Crime reduction experts, firefighters and many other community organisations were displaying what they do to help the people of Wycombe.
Jette Peddie, the organiser and co-ordinator of Wycombe Watch, said the showcase was helping to make people aware of what goes on behind the scenes.
She said: "The message we are trying to get out is that there are a lot of things going on to prevent crime. There are new things coming along all the time."
Firefighters from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue were offering people the chance to have smoke alarms fitted for free after they demonstrated the explosive results of trying to put out a chip pan fire with water.
They were also hoping to find six new recruits to work as retained firemen in High Wycombe.
Thames Valley Police were offering free mobile phone and cycle marking so if items were stolen and handed into the police they could be returned to their rightful owners.
Maria Marston, a crime prevention officer, said: "This is a great opportunity for members of the public to come along and find out about measures that can be taken to ensure their personal security as well as that of their possessions, vehicles, homes and businesses."
The Dial-a-Ride service, Skidz, trading standards and Neighbourhood Watch were also at the showcase.
