MORE than 1,000 people, including around 750 children, gathered at Holy Trinity C of E School in a collective show of worship for Praise in the Park.

The four Christian primary schools in Marlow, which are Marlow C of E, Holy Trinity, St Peter's Catholic School and Little Marlow C of E School, all gathered together for the annual event, on Monday July 18, which saw a new theme celebrated this year.

Following a picnic lunch, children aged five to 11-years-old, from all of the schools, arranged themselves in a circle to begin the event which incorporated music, praise and drama and this year celebrated the life of Christ.

The event, which is usually staged in Higginson Park, Marlow, had to be postponed last month because of thunderstorms and was reorgan-ised to be held in Holy Trinity School's playing field in Wethered Road.

John Myers, the headteacher of Holy Trinity, said the day had been a good way of ending the school year.

He said: "It was a really lovely event and a very pleasant afternoon. The children were terrific and they all loved seeing each other perform. It is a great finish to the end of the school term."

Each school had to celebrate different aspects of the life of Jesus Christ, from his birth to his death, and resurrection.

These included the roles of miracle worker, healer, and teacher, which the children had practised portraying in their own schools.

The four schools presented readings, songs and dramatic performances, which included plays depicting the life of Christ.

Headteacher of St Peters Joe Walls, said: "It was a very successful afternoon for all the church schools in Marlow to get together."
