AMERSHAM LIBRARY has a new hearing impairment collection of DVD's and videos. The collection centres on looking at deafness and deaf issues. These will be of special interest to those who have been deaf all their lives but also to those who have lost some hearing later in life. Those who live with or care for a deaf person may also find them of interest. These special DVD's and videos will be available on request during the normal opening hours and are also available from other libraries in the county.

The workshop is located at St George's Industrial Estate, off White Lion Road, and relies on volunteers to do the refurbishment work.
Repairs are carried out to ensure the equipment offers trouble free use at their destination, mainly countries in East Africa.
Typically to send a refurbished typewriter costs around £15, rising to around £40 for a mechanics kit. All the machines and tools for refurbishment are donated with volunteer and money donations helping in completing the process. Work Aid can be contacted on 01494 765506.

HANDY VAN Scheme is operated by Help the Aged. It offers practical support to older people who need small do-it-yourself type jobs done. The cost to the user is kept low with such items as energy efficiency, home security and low energy light bulbs being available free. Other services incur a small charge plus the cost of materials. No job is too small and those on income support or disability benefits can qualify for financial assistance.
