WYCOMBE District Council has apologised to Second World War veterans for the lack of official commemorative events to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of hostilities.
The council said it will be flying the Union flag at the council offices in Queen Victoria Road on August 15 and holding an event.
A spokesman said: "We are sorry that some local World War Two veterans are disappointed about the scale of local celebrations. Wycombe Museum put on a major exhibition about wartime Wycombe to mark the 60th anniversary. We were advised that official church services were to be organised at county level by the Lord Lieutenants Office and the chairman attended this event early in June.
