A HADDENHAM man who was two carriages away from one of the London tube bombers is trying to put the horror of his ordeal behind him.

Andrew Robinson, 27, of Station Road, was metres away from the bomb which devastated a Circle Line carriage bound for Aldgate. The web designer, who works in the city, had recently started a new job and was experimenting with different routes during the week of the terrorist attacks.

And for Mr Robinson, the route he chose on the morning of July 7 will be one he never forgets.

He recalled the moment the bomb went off, saying: "There was a loud bang, the lights went out and the train shuddered to a halt. Someone said the train had been derailed and we were joking about it.

"Being so close to it and seeing so many people hurt meant it was really emotional for me on Thursday and Friday."

Mr Robinson and the other commuters on the train only realised what had happened when they walked past people covered in blood and heard screaming and crying.

He has been back to work this week and has experienced a change in the atmosphere on the underground: "The first day was a bit nervy. Everyone on the Tube is watching everybody else's bag."

Speaking almost a week after the terrorist attacks, Mr Robinson told the Free Press that he wanted to lay flowers at Aldgate station and was planning to go to Trafalgar Square for the two minutes' silence which was held last Thursday.
