THIS is my proclamation. These evil deeds in London last Thursday make victims of us all.
It is our civilisation that must bring us shoulder to shoulder to condemn, to oppose, to overcome those who would spread fear and hatred and death amongst us.
Our sympathies and prayers are with the victims, their families and friends.
We extend our support and gratitude to the emergency services, the police and all the frontline services responsible for our collective security.
Those evil people who planned and carried out those series of explosions want to demoralise us as a nation and divide us as a people.
All of us must unite in helping the police to capture those murderers.
On the day before, we celebrated as a nation exhilaration that our great London had secured the Olympic Games, but the day after we stood stunned as we witnessed a series of vicious attacks upon our capital city.
We were together in our celebration.
Now we must remain together in our time of crisis.
We must and will be united in common determination that terror cannot succeed.
It is the duty of all us Britons to be observant and actively support efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
God bless us all.
Cllr Ricki Akhter-Hussein (Wycombe District Council), Laburnum Road, High Wycombe,
