AN ASSAULT and robbery on a High Wycombe woman has left her with a loss of sensation and hearing.
The 29-year-old, who wishes to remain anonymous, was walking along Desborough Road, in High Wycombe, near the Rose and Crown pub, when she was approached from behind and hit over the head.
As a result of the blow, the woman has now suffered sensory impairment, which may never return to normal.
The whole episode has had a massive impact on her life, and left her feeling traumatised.
She said: "This incident has totally disrupted my life and there is no guarantee that I will recover from my injuries.
"I am annoyed that people can do something like that to somebody in such a vicious way."
The offenders made off with the woman's handbag, which contained cash, keys, cosmetics and a bank card in the incident, which happened between 12.50am and 1.14am on Sunday, June 19.
They also stole a pair of designer sunglasses, which were a present from the victim's boyfriend.
She was taken to Wycombe Hospital suffering from head injuries, but has since been discharged.
The woman added: "I am upset and frustrated, and as a result I am now scared of going out on my own. I shouldn't have to worry about it."
Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the attack.
Investigating officer Det Con Pete Collett said: "This was a particularly nasty unprovoked attack on a young woman.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who may be able to provide any information about the attackers or the incident, to help us bring those responsible for this to justice."
Anyone who saw anything suspicious between the times should contact Det Sgt Pete Collett at High Wycombe CID on 0845 8 505 505, or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111
