EYEWITNESS Bret Jackson got more than he bargained for when he pulled into Station Road car park, Gerrards Cross, last Thursday.
Not only did the 28-year-old see a section of railway tunnel collapse below him, but his beloved BMW 3 series became a target for excited crowds who rushed to see what all the fuss was about.
"I was in the car park and it was empty," he said.
"Then I heard a massive crack and jumped on my car bonnet and saw the actual tunnel caving into the rail track."
Unfortunately for Mr Jackson, passers by followed his lead by jumping on his bonnet to get a closer look over the fence.
"People wanted to stand on the bonnet to take photos," he said.
"I didn't mind but it suffered a bit of damage.
"It was scratched a bit."
Mr Jackson said about 15 people took it in turns to climb onto the car, which luckily won't require attention as a result.
Following the incident, Mr Jackson, of Packhorse Road, rushed to the station to see if his girlfriend had been caught up in the collapse but fortunately she had already returned home.
His girlfriend, Louise Harris, had missed the collapse by just 15 minutes in an earlier train which arrived into Gerrards Cross from London.
Mr Jackson ran home and brought her back to the scene, as crowds began to gather.
"It could have been bloody fatal really.
"It could have been catastrophic," he said.
