AFTERNOON WI is presenting the High Wycombe Orpheus Male Voice Choir, winners of the male voice section at the Jersey International Music Festival last October, as part of this year's Risborough Festival. The choir, together with guest artistes, will be presenting a concert on Sunday, July 3 at the school in Merton Road at 7.30pm. Tickets priced £8, including refreshments, are available from Corbett's Bookshop at 20 High Street. You can telephone 01844 343294. Donations from the proceeds will be made to the St Mary's Church building project and the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
TAKE ANOTHER DIP into the archives of the Model Railway Club at this year's festival. Their display will feature the Brill and Verney Junction branches of the Metropolitan Railway, the final extension of this commuter railway and part of the grand design to bring Metroland housing to north Bucks. That vision never became a reality and when London Transport inherited these enigmatic routes in the 1930s their fate was sealed. The exhibition is at the community centre in the Carrington Room on Friday, July 8 at 8pm. Tickets are £2 on door.
STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM are the attraction when you book a seat on the Princes Risborough & Chinnor Railway. On Sunday every fare paying passenger will receive a FREE bowl of strawberries and cream. Talking timetable is on 01844 353535 or visit the web site at www.cprra.co.uk
