RUNNING FOR LIFE was the plan of Great Kingshill Year 5 pupil Lucy Grover who took park in the Breast Cancer Research "Race for life". Lucy was running in memory of her granny and also reception pupil Abigail's mother. One hundred pounds was raised in the school playground last Friday to add to Lucy's own sponsorship money.
SPORTS DAY at Great Kingshill School was re-styled this year. All age groups were guided round the whole field concentrating on jumping, throwing and track events. Each of the four houses had their own coloured awnings as assembly points. Red House won the Reception to Year 2 events while Blue House won Year 3-6 events, with Red House gaining most points overall. Year 5 sold cakes in aid of Water Aid. The day was very hot, the organisation ran extremely smoothly and all faces, winners or not, reflected their enjoyment.
MOTH WATCH organised by Wycombe Wildlife Group took place last Friday night. Over 20 species of moths were identified including Lime, Poplar and Small Elephant hawk moths. It was a good tally. All the moths which came to the light were released at the end. Local cat Josh watched all the time hoping for a gourmet meal.
