JENNY BULLIMORE, tireless worker and patron for the SNEHA home for girls in Bangalore, India, raised £335 through a pasta party which she hosted at her home. Entertainment was provided by Rosemary Shaw's recorder players and also two young violin and guitar players and unaccompanied ballad singing. Jenny is also raising funds with her work on show for Bucks Art Week at Buckland. Jenny is a member of Aylesbury College's sculpture class whose members have made life sized child figures to populate an area at the Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, Kent as part of the hospital's Healing Arts work.

ENTRY FORMS for the Haddenham in Bloom competition must be handed to the Parish Clerk at 87 Wykeham Way by tomorrow. Classes are for best kept allotment; best kept front garden; best kept container. For children there is just one class best scarecrow. Judging will take place between July 1 and 14. There are still some entry forms at the library.

HEALTH CENTRE has been invited to collect ink cartridges for re-cycling. Up to £2 per cartridge will be donated by the organisers to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation. So please take your cartridges to the reception desk.

TOMORROW at 7pm for 7.30pm at Towersey Manor Barn, Hadda's Band will provide the music for a ceilidh. Tickets are £5 and there will be a bar and refreshments available. Ring 01844 260869 to book.

THE CHILD AT THE CENTRE is the theme for Sunday's service at 10.15am in the Methodist church, High Street. The service is for the National Children's Home and all are welcome.

SUNDAY FROM 2PM Freda invites you to her garden at 61 Willis Road for a natter and a mooch round. There will be cream teas and a chance to see her dolls' houses. There's a wonderful view of the Chilterns, too. Entry is £1 and it's all in aid of Leukaemia Research and Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. This event is very popular.

SUNDAY AT MIDDAY Life and Soul presents a summer gathering at St Mary's School. Indoor activities will be arranged if the weather is poor. Bring a picnic lunch. There will be space to set up your own portable barbecue if you wish and beer, chilled wine and fruit cup will be available. At about 1.45pm two walks are being arranged. One is about four miles and the other is just over a mile. From 3.30pm tea, coffee and home made cakes will be available.

NEXT FRIDAY, July 1 at 7.30pm for 8pm the Health Centre quiz is being held at the village hall. Ring 01844 215913 for tickets at £5. Bring your own drinks and nibbles. Money raised will fund equipment for the Health Centre.

REAL ALE FESTIVAL tickets for this second event being held on Sunday, July 9 at the Youth and Community Centre in Woodways are available in village shops at £3.50 in advance or £4 on the door. This includes the first pint. Proceeds this year go to the Snakemoor nature reserve.
