ABBEYFIELD hold their Summer Fair and 200 Club Draw tomorrow afternoon.
FLOWER FESTIVAL this weekend at the parish church entitled "Flowers in Harmony" to raise funds for the organ restoration. The occasion is organised by the friends of the church. Hymns have some of the most beautiful verses in the English language and the flower arrangers, led by Barbara Dunford, will be selecting lines from their favourite hymns and reflecting these in their arrangements.
Although the organ is used primarily for worship it is important to the local community. It supports events organised by the local schools, music societies, and charity fund raising groups in addition to weddings and is vital for the many Christmas carol concerts. The restoration will cost nearly £50,000 of which the Friends of Great Missenden Church have already pledged a grant of £15,000.
The festival will be launched at 7pm this evening. Visitors after 5pm tomorrow will be able to enjoy two music recitals by soprano, Jacobina Van Laar, and pianist, Marissa Thornton Wood. Refreshments will be served and the ever popular cream teas will be available as usual on Sunday.
The flower festival coincides with the patronal festival and there will be a Celebration Choral Evensong at 6pm on Sunday.
LOCAL county and district councillors hold their monthly surgery on Saturday, July 2 in the library from 10am.
