THANK YOU for keeping your fingers crossed for fine weather for Downley Day. It worked but did you have to make it so hot? I was busy on the Bucks Free Press table so did not get to see much of what was going on.
FOR NOW it is enough to say that the event was a great success. Friday evening saw groups of lads playing football among the recently cut grass while parents sat in front of the marquee enjoying picnics with chilled beer and wine. Many mums and dads were also settled in the marquee keeping an eye on the energetic youngsters dancing and playing the games organised by the excellent DJs.
It was a wonderful community event which went on a lot longer than the advertised 9pm.
SATURDAY was equally popular with all the stalls and attractions providing interest and entertainment. Congratulations to Isabelle Haven, Downley Queen, and Megan Kinch, her attendant. Both young ladies looked lovely in their gowns. Well done to the Brickmakers Arms team in the Tug o War who beat the le de Spencer's team in the final. And to the ladies of the Renegades Line Dancing class, the only arena event I got to see, who were super. All did exceptionally well in the relentless heat.
