A GOOD Samaritan is appealing to the owner of a 60-year-old photograph who lost the picture on Amersham High Street.
Hilary Langdon, of Milton Lawns, Chesham Bois, discovered the photograph outside the Woolwich Building Society at around 3pm on Saturday June 8.
Mrs Langdon said: "It is likely that somebody dropped it while taking money from the cash machine."
The photograph has the date of December, 1944 printed on the back.
Mrs Langdon suspects that it may be somebody's wife or mother.
She said: "I was just walking around and I bent down and saw this very pretty lady on the ground.
"I couldn't think what to do with it.
"Giving it to a newspaper seemed like the most sensible thing to do."
"I imagine that having kept it all this time, whoever dropped it must be rather distraught."
The housewife believes it must be a great shame for whoever has lost it.
She added: "I thought how upset I'd be if I lost a picture of my mother."
