EIGHT Marlow mothers showed off their bras at the weekend when they descended on London with 15,000 other power walkers to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
The daring mums, whose children attend Burford Primary School, Marlow Bottom, had in fact embarked upon the Playtex Moonwalk 2005, a trek in aid of Walk the Walk, a breast cancer charity.
And they showed more than just their fair share of flesh when they donned their own self-decorated bras for the trek and walked up to 26-and-half miles from Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Mother of two Amanda Gumus, 43, said: "It was fantastic. The men seemed to enjoy it. There was plenty of tooting going on in cars as they saw these women with their bras walking down the street."
The group, who have so far raised more than £2,000 in sponsorship, wore their own self-decorated bras during the walk, which included several hundred men.
The bras were sent directly from the charity, and the women decided to dye them black and decorate them with pink netting and feathers.
The event looks set to raise more than £5 million when the sponsorship money is collected.
Walk the Walk, who stage a number of fundraising events throughout the year, held two separate power walks a full moon, which is 26-and-a-half miles, and a half moon, which is 13 miles.
Three of the eight women chose to do the half-moon with the rest opting for the full-moon, which they finished at around 7am on Sunday morning.
It started at Hyde Park at 11.30pm on Saturday, winding across London and taking in such sights as the Tower Bridge.
Mrs Gumus, of Marlow, took part in the event for the second time.
She said it was all about going the distance.
She said: "It was a lot of effort. We were all trying to keep up with each other.
"Across the bridge you could see thousands of other walkers just behind you."
Joanna Brown, a mother-of-three, who runs the Marlow Day Nursery, in Sandygate Road, said: "The atmosphere was amazing.
"We all want to do it again next year."
