MORE than 300 runners descended onto Wooburn to take part in the Wooburn Park Sports Association 10km run during a sunny weekend.
The race, which began in Wooburn Park, off Town Lane, was started by Dominic Grieve, MP for Beaconsfield, at 10.30am on Sunday.
There was also a fun run for under 15-year-olds which took place within the park.
Wooburn parish councillor John Sendall, who attended the run, said: "It was a very nice day and I enjoyed it."
The overall winner of the 10km run was Andrew Gardiner of Windsor, Slough, Eton & Hounslow runners in 33 minutes. Second was Peter Stainer and third Kingsley Nanton. The fastest female was Sally White of Marlow Striders in a time of 42.14 minutes, followed by Joy Noad in second and Sarah Habgood in third.
Mr Grieve also handed out prizes at the end and congratulated runners on their efforts.
The park played host to scores of families, friends and neighbours as well as the runners, and all enjoyed the refreshments and activities going on during the race. This included attractions such as bar and barbecue, face painting and tombola.
