BIG WEEKEND last week for the football club. On Saturday they held their annual fundraiser which this year was an 80s disco. Hughenden has never been visited by so many celebrities before - Madonna, Adam Ant, Delboy and a special appearance by a Rubik's cube among others. Well done to all those who entered into the spirit of the occasion. Most importantly £1,700 was raised.Sunday saw the AGM and annual awards morning. Matt Bloomfield of Wycombe Wanderers was their special guest presenting the team medals and individual trophies. A big thank you was given to Brian Pickworth who has now retired after 12 years with the club in various roles. Rob White is the new Honorary Vice President and he was congratulated on his efforts and commitment over many years. Club secretary Linda Wright won the award for outstanding contribution during the season.
FINAL SALE OF GOODS organised by the Gardening Association is on Saturday, June 25 at 10am in the village hall. There are still sundry items for sale after the association members have now finished purchasing. All are welcome to come and buy.
PAINTING AND BARBECUE SESSION is at Piggotts on Monday with more painting days at Piggotts on two sets of days, June 25/26 and 27/28. Phone 01494 562167 if you wish to join. The club exhibition days are Saturday and Sunday, September 24/25, so the above painting days will be useful.
VALLEY WIVES has an open meeting with a talk entitled "Tip to Toe", about islands around Britain by David Gantzel on Friday, July 1.
MOTHER'S UNION will be having a ploughman's lunch on Tuesday at Church House, entry £3. It will be in aid of Mother's Union charities. Cakes, teas and coffee will also be available.
PRE-SCHOOL CHILDREN did a sponsored walk on Monday in aid of Foresters and Barnardo's. Two classes of children, from 2 years to just under school age, took part in what is called the Big Toddle, with two circuits of the recreation ground. Afterwards they sat outside for tea and biscuits.
