BEACONSFIELD OLD TOWN Residents' Association (BOTRA) will welcome you to the Reading Room in Wycombe End tomorrow from 10am till midday. The Historical Society have a detailed display in place highlighting local history and providing information. This will be open every Saturday from 10am till midday until the autumn, manned by members of BOTRA. There are numerous photos on display showing all the Old Town retail shops in days gone by - and you would be amazed at how many there were. Volunteers would be welcome to help out on Saturdays. SEELEYS HOUSE in Campbell Drive, which provides a day and respite care service for young adults with learning disabilities, has a fundraising group called Friends of Seeleys House, and they are holding an auction tomorrow with viewing from 11am. The main event will start at 12.30pm and all are welcome to see how many bargains they can pick up. Their cake and plant stall raised £315.05 from their sale on the town green on Saturday, May 28. Thanks to all who contributed.
SEVEN LOCAL MOTHERS are joining the London to Brighton cycle ride in aid of the British Heart Foundation and are planning a beach barbecue on their arrival in Brighton, with husbands and children. Good luck to Belinda, Paula, Alison, Sally, Judith, Sarah and Sara, who are also known as the Extreme Riders.
ALZHEIMERS SOCIETY have another Tea and Talk session in the Reading Room on Wednesday between 2pm and 4pm. If anyone in your family suffers from dementia, or if you care for someone who does and you have worries, or would just like the company of those who understand, just pop along.
LEUKAEMIA CARE will profit from a sale opposite W H Smith on Wednesday from 9am till 5pm. There will be plants, videos, CDs, books and toys for all ages, plus plenty of gift items. Although this stall takes place weekly there is a huge variety of items.
NATIONAL TRUST members are off to Lacock Abbey and village on Thursday, where most rooms are largely intact. There is also a woodland garden and a rose garden that are well worth a visit.
AFTER THE FUN AND LEARNING about local organisations on Awareness Day you can look forward to an even bigger popular event - Donkey Derby Day on Saturday, June 25. This will be at St Mary's School in Maxwell Road, organised by the PTA in conjunction with Beaconsfield Lions from midday.
